What is in the Dutch recipe?
HiPP identifies lactose as the carbohydrate source in Dutch Stage 1. Its published label includes GOS fibre, natural lactic acid cultures, fish oil, vitamins and minerals. The vegetable-oil blend contains palm, rapeseed and sunflower oils. Starch is not listed in this recipe.
Ingredient check: The label includes milk and fish ingredients, and lactose is present. This product is not lactose-free. Read the full ingredient and allergy declaration on the tin you receive; if you avoid a particular ingredient, contact us to check the current stock label before ordering.
Questions parents ask about Dutch Stage 1
Does it contain both GOS and cultures?
Yes. HiPP's Dutch Stage 1 label lists GOS and a natural lactic acid culture identified as Limosilactobacillus fermentum CECT5716. These are ingredient features of the Dutch Bio Combiotik recipe; they do not mean that a formula will treat colic, constipation or an allergy.
Is this the same as HiPP UK Stage 1?
No. They are separate regional products. When reordering, compare the regional name, stage, age guidance and full label rather than relying on a similar tin design. Send us a photo of your usual product if you want help checking which listing matches it.
Must I change stages at six months?
A change is not automatic. HiPP's Dutch feeding guidance explains that changing formula is possible but not always necessary, provided the age and feeding instructions are followed. Ask your healthcare professional about your baby's needs and the introduction of complementary foods.
Preparing feeds and storing powder
Use the scoop supplied with this tin and follow its complete preparation directions, including the specified water-to-powder ratio. Powdered formula is not sterile. Make feeds fresh, check the drinking temperature and discard unfinished milk. Your healthcare professional can help if you need preparation advice for your baby's circumstances.
HiPP's Dutch Stage 1 label says to keep the tin well closed in a dry place at room temperature and use the powder within three weeks of opening. Note the opening date and check the best-before date. The tin's directions remain the reference if packaging changes.
How much should I order?
An 800g tin measures dry powder, not prepared milk. How long it lasts depends on actual daily use and the amounts in your tin's feeding guide. For example, choosing two 6-tin packs gives you 12 tins. Before a larger order, check your remaining supply and ask us about current best-before dates.
