Ingredients and recipe versions

HiPP's product information describes organic milk ingredients, GOS fibre, natural lactic acid cultures, vitamins and minerals. Its allergy information identifies milk, including lactose, and fish. This product is not lactose-free. Use the complete ingredient and nutrition panel on your supplied box.

Does German Stage 2 contain starch?

Yes. The box pictured for this listing says “sämig mit Bio-Stärke” — creamy with organic starch. This listing is for that starch-containing version. HiPP has announced a newer German Stage 2 without added starch, so compare the ingredient panel when reordering to match your usual recipe.

Questions parents ask about German Stage 2

How is it different from Stage 1?

German Stage 1 is a from-birth infant milk. Stage 2 is follow-on milk for babies already eating complementary foods. HiPP describes follow-on milks as having a different nutrient profile, including more iron than its infant milks. Use each product's own feeding guide rather than assuming the recipes are identical.

Must I move to Stage 2 at six months?

The minimum age is not an instruction that every baby must change products. Ask your healthcare professional about your baby's diet if you are deciding whether to continue an infant milk or choose a follow-on product.

Can I use the same scoop with a new box?

Use the scoop supplied with the product you are preparing. HiPP advises checking mixing instructions again when moving between recipes. Keep each powder with its own scoop and directions.

Which stage comes after this?

German Stage 3 follow-on formula starts at ten months. German PRE and Stage 1 are the from-birth options in this range.

Preparation and storage

Read the full directions on the box before preparing the first feed. Use only the scoop supplied with that product and the stated water-to-powder ratio. Powdered formula is not sterile. Use clean equipment, prepare each feed fresh, check the drinking temperature and discard unfinished milk. Ask your healthcare professional if you need preparation advice for your baby's circumstances.

Reseal the inner bag after use and follow the pack's storage conditions and time limit after opening. Mark the opening date and check the best-before date on every box. A familiar brand name does not mean that an older scoop or set of directions applies to a newer recipe.
